MOBY DESTROYED 10″ PROMO VINYL

If you haven’t listened to Mobys’ Album titled Destroyed as yet, then really you should. This 10″ vinyl was released as a promo of the title track and is strictly limited to just 200 worldwide.

When it arrived on my doorstep, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been signed by the man himself.

THE VINYL FACTORY PET SHOP BOYS ELECTRIC BOX SET REVIEW

Pro’s
+ Robust and secure packaging to ensure it arrives to you as intended.
+ Looks stunning, it really does. Try placing it by a light source, natural or unnatural, the box comes alive with straight lines of colour.
+ The vinyl is true 180gram heavy weight vinyl with nice consistent bright colouring.
+ Very high quality manufacturing of the box itself, sturdy, precision engineered with the rivets holding it all together doing a great job and yet not detracting the eye.
+ Hand signed on the centre record label of the white vinyl is unique.
+ Coloured Instruction sheet is a nice touch.
+ Gloves included for handling the box set.

Con’s
– The plastic sheet on top of the records when packaged has a glue strip on the top and bottom to hold the contents in place which can become sticky, unstuck and fiddly.
– The paper sleeves protect each vinyl when ‘unbuilt’ which means the vinyl is laying flat on top of each other and the sleeves themselves are thin and I envisage wearing over time aesthetically.
– Would have been good to see some blue vinyl, the box doesn’t need it but a blue vinyl would have been nice.
– The magnetic lid may for some be a bit tight and hard to remove and place back, so being careful & having some patience is required.

Summary
Overall an amazing piece of music art. And for those who purchased it I’m sure that’s what it’s going to be.
It isn’t really designed to be played and opened with records taken out on a frequent basis.
You either keep it boxed laying flat to protect the vinyl and store as a collectible or you build and place it in a lit room and enjoy all those colours pop out bursting with energy.

Some may argue that it was priced to high at £500. If you enjoy music and art then it’s down to the individual on what they are willing to pay to own such a piece.
However, due to the subject matter and success of this particular Pet Shop Boys album, this piece will only increase in value and can be regarded as an investment also.

I was one of the fortunate ones to preorder it as it sold out within just 24 hours. Mine is numbered #17/350

Review Score 8/10

Pet Shop Boys – The Vinyl Factory Releases

The Vinyl Factory in London over here in the UK have just fulfilled all 350 orders in under 24 hours of being announced, the new Pet Shop Boys album Electric.
The Pet Shop Boys artistic release designed once more by Farrow Design is the 3rd of the latest Vinyl Factory releases which is aimed towards the artistic side of the music spectrum which is aimed for release on 7th October 2013.

The first was the Yes Vinyl Factory Gold Plated Tick Box Set which was limited to just 300 worldwide, featuring each song along with an instrumental version on separate 180gram vinyl, signed and numbered by Neil and Chris.
This sold out in 2 days of being announced and demands a price currently of over £1000, with the highest sale being over £3000.

The second is The Vinyl Factory’s deluxe edition of The Most Incredible Thing which is a silk cloth-bound, hard board slipcase containing a hardback book with seven record sleeves. Six of these house 180gram vinyl records pressed on the EMI 1400, featuring the Pet Shop Boys’ music for the ballet plus original demo versions of each of the compositions, exclusive to this release. Limited to just 500 worldwide and again hand signed by Neil and Chris.

The complete set of the Pet Shop Boys Vinyl Factory box sets are very hard to source let alone acquire, so, if like me you have the privilege of owning all 3 Vinyl Factory’s artistic masterpieces – congratulations, on owning a complete piece of music art.

The White Stripes Record Store Day 2013 Elephant 10th Anniversary Release

After queuing overnight for 12 hours I managed to purchase some really nice Record Store Day 2013 rare releases.
The White Stripes released a 10th Anniversary Edition of their mighty fine album Elephant on double vinyl. One on white vinyl, the other on split red and black vinyl.
Here is my purchase below, along with a fitting photo of the pressings and an indication of what the vinyl colours represent. Pretty smart.

THE STRYPES Young, Gifted & Blue Heavy Soul Debut 7″ EP

There’s a real buzz around The Strypes right now, and justifiably so. They have been compared to The younger Beatles and highly regarded by Noel Gallagher, Dave Grohl, Paul Weller and Elton John to name a few.
The Strypes debut copy of this 7” is strictly limited to just 250.
Having recently signed a five album deal with Mercury Records, in years to come, this will be one of the rarest recordings around.
Fortunately I managed to get the 7″ EP which is pictured below.

Willy Moon Railroad Track Tri-Colour 7″

Willy Moon released Railroad Track on 7″ at Third Man Records recently.
His recent tour brought him to the UK along with just 100 Tri-Colour 7″ singles that were only available for one day on a first come first served basis at Rough Trade Records East in London.
Although I missed the event, I still managed to find a brand new one as pictured below.
